Pituitary adenoma

A benign tumour of the pituitary. Its effects come from what it makes, what it squeezes out of the normal gland, and what it presses on as it grows.

ICD-10 D35.2On the pituitary3 stages

Installation

bunx shadcn@4.22.1 add @organui/pituitary-adenoma

This adds pituitary-adenoma.tsx, the disease's data and component, to your components directory. It is built on the disease viewer and reuses the models of the pituitary, which install with it.

Usage

import { PituitaryAdenoma } from "@/components/pituitary-adenoma"

export function PituitaryAdenomaDemo() {
  return <PituitaryAdenoma />
}

Every structure is a finding: affected structures are amber and spared ones muted. Select one, in 3D or in the panel, to read what the disease does there.

Course

Set stage or defaultStage to one of these. Each stage changes which structures are affected and the investigations to expect.

  1. Micro "microadenoma"

    Under 1 cm, confined to the sella. Check the hormones once, and repeat the MRI to see whether it grows.

    Affects 1 structure of the pituitary.

  2. Macro "macroadenoma"

    Over 1 cm and growing up out of the sella. It presses on the optic chiasm and on the normal gland, which fails one hormone at a time.

    Affects 3 structures of the pituitary.

  3. Apoplexy "apoplexy"

    The tumour suddenly bleeds or dies: thunderclap headache, vomiting, loss of vision and double vision. Give hydrocortisone first; surgery decompresses it.

    Affects 3 structures of the pituitary.

Without Panel

Hide the panel to place the model in your own layout, and choose the scale and stage with props.

Controlled

Drive the stage, scale and selection from your own state, such as a patient's timeline.
