Helicobacter pylori or anti-inflammatory drugs weaken the stomach's mucosal barrier, and acid digests a crater into the wall. Treating the cause heals it.

This adds peptic-ulcer-disease.tsx, the disease's data and component, to your components directory. It is built on the disease viewer and reuses the models of the stomach, which install with it.

Every structure is a finding: affected structures are amber and spared ones muted. Select one, in 3D or in the panel, to read what the disease does there.

Course

Set stage or defaultStage to one of these. Each stage changes which structures are affected and the investigations to expect.

Ulcer "ulcer"
Pain and indigestion. Eradicating H. pylori, stopping NSAIDs and a proton pump inhibitor heal most ulcers in eight weeks.
Affects 1 structure of the stomach.
Bleeding "bleeding"
The ulcer erodes a vessel: vomiting blood or black, tarry stools. Resuscitate, then endoscopy within 24 hours stops it.
Affects 2 structures of the stomach.
Perforation "perforation"
The ulcer goes through the whole wall. Acid and air escape into the peritoneum: sudden, severe pain and a rigid abdomen. Surgery closes it.
Affects 1 structure of the stomach.

Without Panel

Hide the panel to place the model in your own layout, and choose the scale and stage with props.

Controlled
