Bacteria, most often Streptococcus pneumoniae, fill the alveoli of a whole lobe with inflammatory exudate, so that part of the lung stops exchanging gas.
Installation
bunx shadcn@4.22.1 add @organui/lobar-pneumoniaThis adds lobar-pneumonia.tsx, the disease's data and component, to your components directory. It is built on the disease viewer and reuses the models of the lungs, which install with it.
Usage
import { LobarPneumonia } from "@/components/lobar-pneumonia"
export function LobarPneumoniaDemo() {
return <LobarPneumonia />
}Every structure is a finding: affected structures are amber and spared ones muted. Select one, in 3D or in the panel, to read what the disease does there.
Course
Set stage or defaultStage to one of these. Each stage changes which structures are affected and the investigations to expect.
- Congestion
"congestion"Days 1–2. Fever, rigors and a cough; the lobe fills with fluid and bacteria multiply.
Affects 4 structures of the lungs.
- Red
"red-hepatisation"Red hepatisation, days 2–4. The lobe is solid, red and airless, like liver; the cough brings up rust-coloured sputum.
Affects 4 structures of the lungs.
- Grey
"grey-hepatisation"Grey hepatisation, days 4–8. Red cells break down and the lobe turns grey-brown; with antibiotics, the fever settles.
Affects 4 structures of the lungs.
- Resolution
"resolution"From about day 8. Enzymes and macrophages clear the exudate and the lobe's structure returns to normal.
Affects 4 structures of the lungs.
Without Panel
Hide the panel to place the model in your own layout, and choose the scale and stage with props.
Controlled
Drive the stage, scale and selection from your own state, such as a patient's timeline.
