Ischaemic stroke

A clot blocks the left middle cerebral artery. A core of brain dies within minutes; the penumbra around it can be saved if the artery is reopened in time.

Installation

bunx shadcn@4.22.1 add @organui/ischaemic-stroke

This adds ischaemic-stroke.tsx, the disease's data and component, to your components directory. It is built on the disease viewer and reuses the models of the brain, which install with it.

Every structure is a finding: affected structures are amber and spared ones muted. Select one, in 3D or in the panel, to read what the disease does there.

Course

Set stage or defaultStage to one of these. Each stage changes which structures are affected and the investigations to expect.

  1. Hyperacute "hyperacute"

    Up to 24 hours. Time is brain: thrombolysis within 4.5 hours and thrombectomy up to 24 hours reopen the artery and save the penumbra.

    Affects 3 structures of the brain.

  2. Acute "acute"

    Days 2–7. The infarct is complete. Swelling peaks around days 3–5, and the risks are aspiration, a second stroke and, in large infarcts, brain shift.

    Affects 4 structures of the brain.

  3. Chronic "chronic"

    Months later. The dead tissue has gone and rehabilitation retrains what survives; anticoagulation prevents the next embolus.

    Affects 4 structures of the brain.

Without Panel

Hide the panel to place the model in your own layout, and choose the scale and stage with props.

Controlled

Drive the stage, scale and selection from your own state, such as a patient's timeline.

The component code is MIT. Each model keeps its own licence, and the viewer shows its credit; see Licences before hiding it.
